The IUD Insertion Procedure
1. The tenaculum, which is a long pair of metal forceps, pierces the cervix in order to stabilize it for the duration of the procedure.
2. The uterine sound is used like a ruler to measure the depth of the uterus to ensure the IUD is placed in the correct location in the uterus.
3. The IUD is pushed through the cervix and placed into the uterus.
